Mock Endpoint Creator

Create temporary mock HTTP endpoints with configurable responses

How to Use

  1. 1. Send a POST request to `/v1/mocks` with your desired response configuration — status code, headers, body, and optional delay.
  2. 2. Use the returned `endpoint_url` (e.g. `/v1/mock/{mock_id}`) as the target URL in your application.
  3. 3. Your application hits the mock endpoint and receives the pre-configured response. Check `hit_count` via `GET /v1/mocks/{mock_id}` to verify calls were made.
  4. 4. Delete the mock with `DELETE /v1/mocks/{mock_id}` when testing is complete.

About this Tool

Mock Endpoint Creator lets you spin up temporary HTTP endpoints that return fully configurable responses — custom status codes, headers, body content, and even simulated network delay. Use it to stub out external APIs during development, test error handling paths, or simulate slow responses.

Each mock endpoint gets a unique public URL that accepts any HTTP method (GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, DELETE, HEAD, OPTIONS) without authentication. The mock tracks hit counts so you can verify your application called it the expected number of times.

You can also retrieve mock details with `GET /v1/mocks/{mock_id}` or delete a mock with `DELETE /v1/mocks/{mock_id}`.

Use Cases

API stub for development

Mock a third-party API that's rate-limited, unavailable, or costs money per call

Error handling testing

Create mocks returning 500, 429, or 503 to test your retry and fallback logic

Slow response simulation

Add delay to test timeout handling and loading states

Integration test fixtures

Create deterministic API responses for your CI/CD test suite

FAQ

Do mock endpoints require authentication to call? expand_more
No, the mock serving endpoint (`/v1/mock/{mock_id}`) is public and accepts any HTTP method without authentication. Only the management endpoints (create, get details, delete) require an API key.
Can I update a mock after creating it? expand_more
Currently, mocks are immutable once created. To change the response configuration, delete the existing mock and create a new one with the updated settings.
What's the maximum response delay? expand_more
You can set a delay of up to 30,000 milliseconds (30 seconds). This is useful for testing timeout handling in your application — set the delay slightly above your client's timeout threshold.
